Dining Rooms that we Love

The Love House

seen in Austin Monthly

WHAT WE LOVE Who said dining rooms have to be formal? This funky space reflects the personality of the homeowner and serves up a bit of whimsy to go with every meal. THE DINING DEBRIEF Paul and Becky Ohls gutted their house in Deep Eddy and hired designer Glynis Wood to help with the look. “Becky is so fun, super edgy and cool,” Wood says. “She just let me push the envelope on everything.” The goal was an open, inviting and unique room. Ohls found “LOVE” while in California, and the sign quickly became the signature feature. It can be seen through the front windows by people driving along Wayside Driv, and the home is now known as the Love House. In addition, the wall features textured tiles that were painted white and pieced together to give it a 3D look. GET THE LOOK Mix contemporary with vintage pieces, as Ohls and Wood did here with the light fixture and chairs. “We wanted that light fixture to not be too heavy and be more modern with the vintage chairs,” Wood says.
